The tariff classification of brass fittings from China.

Dear Ms. Walsh: In your letter dated August 2, 2007 you requested a tariff classification ruling. Representative samples were submitted with your request. The products to be imported are brass fittings. They are threaded on both ends and are used for connecting garden hoses to water pipes. While all of the fittings are constructed of solid brass, those with swivel connections also include plastic hose washers. The applicable subheading for the brass fittings will be 7412.20.0035, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for copper tube or pipe fittings (for example couplings, elbows, sleeves), of copper alloys, other, of copper-zinc base alloys (brass), threaded, other. The rate of duty will be 3 percent. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
