Dear Mr. Heck: In your letter dated July 5, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise under consideration is identified as the Electrical Unit (P/N QC845800), comprised of the following components: The main printed circuit board of the electric guitar 2. The variable resistor (volume control) 3. The switch for the pickup unit The Electrical Unit is used in the manufacturing of electric guitars. The applicable subheading for the Electrical Unit will be 9209.94.8000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Parts and accessories for the musical instruments of heading 9207: Other.” The rate of duty will be 2.7% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
