Dear Ms. Castellanos: In your letter dated June 27, 2007, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted sample is identified as Item # PB03S: Ceramic Piggy Bank. You stated that the piggy bank is made of ceramic. The product measures approximately 3 ½”L x 2 ¾”W x 2 ½”H and features a coin slot on top, and a rubber plug on the bottom. You indicated that the intended use will be for coin storage. The applicable subheading for the ceramic piggy bank will be 6912.00.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Ceramic tableware, kitchenware, other household articles and toilet articles, other than of porcelain or china: Other.” The rate of duty will be 6% ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.
