Dibenzoyl-d-tartaric acid anhydrous, CAS 17026-42-5, also known as Butanedioic acid, 2,3-bis(benzoyloxy)-, (2S,3S)-, is an ester of tartaric acid imported for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate. The applicable subheading for Dibenzoyl-d-tartaric acid anhydrous will be 2918.13.5000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Carboxylic acids with alcohol function but without other oxygen function, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their derivatives: Salts and esters of tartaric acid: Other. The rate of duty will be 4.4 percent ad valorem. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
