Steer Company 28 S. 2nd Street Philadelphia, PA 19106 RE: The tariff classification of a nonwoven wiping cloth, for general household use, from China. Dear Mr. Greenlee: In your letter dated November 8, 2006, on behalf of Sara Lee Household and Body Care, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. The instant sample, consists of a nonwoven wiping cloth, which you state is composed of a 50% polethylene terephthalate/50% viscose man-made fiber blend. The cloth measures 11.5" x 12" (rectangular) and, according to your letter, will not be impregnated with any kind of substance. The wipes were informally weighed and were found to weigh approximately 108 grams per square meter. The applicable subheading for the wipes will be 5603.93.0090, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for nonwovens, whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminated, other than filament, weighing more than 70 g/ m², but not more than 150 g/ m². The rate of duty will be Free. Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
