Dear Mr. Tichy: In your letter dated November 10,2005 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The first item is a friction clutch for automatic transmissions. The friction clutches are round splined internal clutches (friction material adhered to a metal disc) that mechanically rotates in transmission oil and works in conjunction with many other internal transmission parts. The second item is a steel clutch for automatic transmissions. The steel clutch is a round splined internal clutch (metal disc) that mechanically rotates next to friction clutches in transmission oil and works in conjunction with many other internal transmission parts. The third item is an Internal filter for automatic transmissions. It filters the transmission fluid and comes in many styles and shapes.
