Los Angles St. Los Angeles, CA 90012 RE: The tariff classification of a sock from China. Dear Mr./Ms. Chou: In your letter dated September 12, 2005 you requested a classification ruling. The submitted sample (no style number) is a sock composed of knit acrylic fabric with rubber non-skip dots on a portion of the bottom. The applicable subheading for the slipper-style socks will be 6115.93.9020, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for "Panty hose, tights, stockings, socks and other hosiery, including stockings for varicose veins, and footwear without applied soles, knitted or crocheted: Other: Of synthetic fibers: Other: Other, Other." The rate of duty will be 14.6% ad valorem. The textile category designation is 632. Quota and visa status are the result of international agreements that are subject to frequent renegotiations and changes.
