Dear Ms. Marlow: In your letter dated August 22, 2005 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise is a nursery toy, model #1037, consisting of a chime ball with interchangeable toy animal covers. The chime ball rocks back and forth giving the appearance of moving animals. The character covers can also be removed from the chime ball and used as hand puppets. The sample will be returned at your request. The applicable subheading for the Rockin’ Safari puppets and chime ball will be 9503.49.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for toys representing animals or non-human creatures and parts and accessories thereof: other. The rate of duty will be free. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
