Dear Ms. Butterline: In your letter dated February 26, 2004, you requested a tariff classification ruling. A sample identified as an “XRL Globe Light” (Item #935562) was submitted for our examination and is being returned to you as requested. It is a plastic sphere, 20 cm in diameter, printed with representations of the oceans, continents, countries, etc., of the earth. It is attached to a wooden base by means of a plastic mounting that permits the sphere to be rotated. The globe also has an internal 25-watt light bulb with attached power cable featuring an in-line switch. The applicable subheading for the above-described article will be 4905.10.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for globes, printed. The rate of duty will be Free. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
