Dear Mr. Desmet: In your letter dated September 29, 2003, you requested a ruling on behalf of Legend Valve & Fitting Inc. on tariff classification. The sample you provided is a Model T-80 Air Purger, item nos. 110-345 and 110-346. The air purger is a cast iron article that has been worked by threading. It is designed to be installed onto a hydronic heating system. It contains no moving parts. It is painted to provide corrosion resistance. The air purger is used to facilitate the removal of air from the piping of the heating system. The applicable subheading for this product will be 7326.90.8587, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other articles of iron or steel, other. The general rate of duty will be 2.9 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R.).
