Box 82345 Portland, Oregon 97282-0345 RE: The tariff classification of a glove from China. Dear Mr. Kindler: In your letter dated July 11, 2002, you requested a classification ruling. Style 1775 is a 50% cotton 50% polyester string-knit glove with an overlock stitch finish at the ribbed knit cuff. Gloves, that are claimed to be constructed from such a blend, are subject, upon importation, to laboratory analysis by the U.S. Customs Service to verify the actual weight of the component fibers. Please be advised that a slight variation from the above stated fiber content may affect the classification. The applicable subheading for style 1775 will be 6116.93.8800, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Gloves, mittens and mitts, knitted or crocheted: other: of synthetic fibers: other: other: without fourchettes. The rate of duty will be 18.8 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
