Dear Ms. Pitts: In your letter dated January 17, 2002, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The samples are being returned as requested. The samples submitted are boxes, style numbers 217GTN23201, 217GTN23200 and 217GTN23199. The boxes are square, heart and round shaped, respectively, with detached lid. The boxes and lids are made of a paperboard base covered on the exterior side with woven fabric and lace fabric decorated with plastic beads. The interiors of the boxes and lids are covered with woven fabric. The interior sides, bottom of the boxes, and the exterior sides of the lids are padded. The exterior sides of the lids are decorated with textile flowers. The applicable subheading for the boxes will be 6307.90.9889, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other made up articles . . . Other. The rate of duty will be 7 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
