Chivini Austin Chemical Company, Inc. 1565 Barclay Boulevard Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 RE: The tariff classification of Amiloride Hydrochloride (CAS-17440-83-4), imported in bulk form, from Italy Dear Mr. Chivini: In your letter dated March 27, 2001, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The subject product, Amiloride Hydrochloride, is a potassium-sparing diuretic drug. It is indicated for concurrent use with other diuretic drugs in the management of congestive heart failure or hypertension. The applicable subheading for Amiloride Hydrochloride, imported in bulk form, will be 2933.90.5300, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for "Heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: Other: Aromatic or modified aromatic Other: Drugs: Cardiovascular drugs: Other.” Pursuant to General Note 13, HTS, the rate of duty will be free. This merchandise may be subject to the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, which is administered by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
