Dear Mr. Gellert: In your letter dated February 23, 2001, you requested a tariff classification ruling. You are requesting the tariff classification on a climbing harness, BD650603, Mentor2 Harness. The submitted sample is part of a line of climbing harnesses intended for rock and ice climbing. There are 13 styles in all, and style BD650603 is representative of the other 12 styles. The Mentor2 climbing harness, exclusive of accessories and trim, is constructed primarily from 5/16( closed-cell foam, 500D Cordura( material, injection-molded gear loops, and nylon webbing. The climbing harness will be classified in Chapter 95 of the HTSUSA as equipment for outdoor games or general physical exercise. The sample will be returned, as requested.
