Box 30250 Memphis, TN 38130 RE: The tariff classification of a rotor and a stator from China Dear Mr. Pennesi: In your letter dated December 28, 2000, on behalf of Arkansas General Industries, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. The samples you provided are the rotor and stator for a fan motor used in a houseold refrigerator. The finished motor operates on AC, and has a maximum output of 8 Watts. The applicable subheading for the stator and rotor will be 8503.00.3500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for parts suitable for use solely or principally with the machines of heading 8501 or 8502, stators and rotors for the goods of heading 8501, for motors of under 18.65 W. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
