As indicated by the submitted sample and information, the intrusion switch assembly consists of a push button switch with a length of wire and a connector. The connector attaches to the motherboard of a PC and the switch is affixed to the processor housing. Removal of the housing cover activates the switch, which subsequently sends a signal that the PC’s security has been breached. The applicable subheading for the intrusion switch assembly will be 8536.50.90, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other switches: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 2.7 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
