Wiley Co. 5305 West 102nd Street P.O.Box 90008 Los Angeles, CA 90009-0008 RE: The tariff classification of a glass stopper from Austria Dear Mr. Mauna: In your letter dated August 23, 2000, on behalf of your client, American Commercial Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. A representative sample of the item was submitted with your ruling request. The submitted sample, which is identified as “Monterey T8173/900”, is a lead crystal glass stopper that measures approximately five inches in height. You indicated that the item is machine made and contains over twenty four percent lead monoxide. The applicable subheading for the lead crystal glass stopper will be 7010.20.2000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for stoppers, lids and closures, of glass: produced by automatic machine. The rate of duty will be 2.5 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
