Dear Mr. Gilmore: In your letter dated June 15, 2000, on behalf of your client Hugo Boss Fashions, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. The submitted sample, designated as article 705, is a dyed satin woven fabric composed of 100% filament silk. It contains 109 warp ends per centimeter and 36 filling picks per centimeter. This fabric is constructed using 50 decitex yarns in the warp and 98 decitex yarns in the filling. Weighing 133 g/m2, this product will be imported in 150 centimeter widths. Your correspondence indicates that this fabric will be used in the construction of suits and has been designed for use as part of a lapel.
