Dear Ms. Nuyttens: In your letter dated October 11, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The product designated Hexanedioic acid, polymer with 1,3-benzenedimethanamine (CAS-25718-70-1) is a polyamide classifiable in subheading 3908.90.7000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other polyamides in primary forms. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem. This merchandise may be subject to the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which is administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
