Byrne 114 Fayette Street Staunton, VA 24401 RE: The tariff classification of lamps and lamp parts from Sweden. Dear Mr. Byrne: In your letter dated July 23, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The subject merchandise, based on the information submitted, consists of brass chandeliers with and without electrical wiring and light sockets, brass candlesticks and brass wine cork pullers. These items are stated to be used in the household for functional and decorative purposes. The applicable subheading for the brass chandeliers with electrical wiring and light sockets will be 9405.10.4010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for lamps and lighting fittings…chandeliers and other electric ceiling lamps…of base metal: of brass. The duty rate will be 3.9 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for the brass chandeliers without electrical wiring and sockets will be 9405.99.2000, HTS, which provides for lamps and lighting fittings…and parts thereof…other: of brass. The rate of duty will be 3.9 percent ad valorem. The appropriate subheading for the brass candlesticks will be 9405.50.4000, HTS, which provides for lamps and lighting fittings…other non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings: of base metal: of brass. The rate of duty will be 5.7 percent ad valorem. Your inquiry does not provide enough information for us to give a classification ruling on the brass wine cork pullers. Your request for a classification ruling should include samples of this merchandise in both decorative and functional conditions. When this information is available, you may wish to consider resubmission of your request. We are returning any related samples, exhibits, etc. If you decide to resubmit your request, please include all of the material that we have returned to you. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
