Box 3165 Harrisburg, PA 17105 RE: The tariff classification of gumball machines from Taiwan Dear Ms. Aldinger: In your letter dated May 28, 1999, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The sample you supplied is a working, cast-aluminum gumball machine with a glass globe, item 991691. It is a reproduction of an antique gumball machine, used to store and to dispense candy in the kitchen, den or office. The machine can be made to work or without coins. It is imported and sold without gumballs or candy. The applicable subheading for the gumball machine will be 7615.19.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for table, kitchen or other household articles and parts thereof, of aluminum, other, other. The rate of duty will be 3.1 percent. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
