Dear Ms. Adell: In your letter dated February 18, 1998, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Samples and pictorial literature were submitted with your letter. The samples were examined and disposed of. "Wasa" brand sandwiches consist of two rectangular pieces of crispbread with a soft, cheese flavored filling, put up for retail sale in a plastic pouch. The "cheese" sandwich consists of whole grain rye flour, cheese powder (milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes, sodium citrate, sodium phosphate), hydrogenated vegetable oil (canola, coconut, and/or palm), yeast, salt, and beta carotene. The rate of duty will be 6.3 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
