Dear Ms. Aldinger: In your letter dated January 15, 1998, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The merchandise consists of a combination of Badminton and Volleyball games, Rite Aid item #980703. The set of recreational games includes a vinyl volleyball, a 20 foot long official divider net, two shuttlecocks and four badminton rackets, net poles and a mini inflating pump. The applicable subheading for the "badmintonvolleyball set" will be 9506.99.6080, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for "Articles and equipment for general physical exercise, gymnastics, athletics, other sports...or outdoor games:...Other: Other." The duty rate will be 4.3 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
