Dear Ms. Cheung: In your letter dated October 1, 1997 you requested a tariff classification ruling. Style number 8309(missy)/8309p(petite) is a woman's vest constructed from 55% ramie, 45% cotton, 1X1 rib knit fabric(front panels) and 2X2 rib knit fabric(back panel). The outer surface of the front and back panels measures more than 9 stitches per 2 centimeters in the horizontal direction. The garment features oversized armholes; a V-neckline; and a full front opening with 5 button closures. Your sample is being returned as requested.
