The tariff classification of cathode ray tubes from Mexico

Box 1999 Calexico, CA 92231 Attn: Mr. Albert Kim, Customs and Traffic RE: The tariff classification of cathode ray tubes from Mexico Dear Mr. Kim: In your letter dated July 24, 1997 you requested a tariff classification ruling. In your literature you identified the merchandise as cathode ray tubes (CRT) for color computer monitors measuring fourteen inches and fifteen inches. In addition, you identified cathode ray tubes for color television receivers measuring 20 inches. The specifications for the computer monitor CRT's are as follows: the video display diagonal measures 34cm and 36cm, the shadow mask aperture grill pitch is .234mm. The specifications for the color television receiver CRT's are as follow: the video display diagonal measures 48cm and the shadow mask aperture grill pitch is .75mm. The applicable subheading for the color computer monitor CRT will be 8540.40.0060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Thermionic, cold cathode or photocathode tubes, Data/graphic display tubes, color, with a phosphor dot screen pitch smaller 0.4mm, having a video display diagonal exceeding 33cm but not exceeding 36cm. The rate of duty will be 4.2%. The applicable subheading for the color television receiver CRT's will be 8540.11.1050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Thermionic, cold cathode or photocathode tubes, Cathode-ray television picture tubes having a video display diagonal exceeding 45cm but not exceeding 50cm. The rate of duty will be 15%. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
