Box 3165 Harrisburg, PA 17105 RE: The tariff classification of a fabric lined wood jewelry box with music movement from China. Dear Ms. Aldinger: In your letter dated May 5, 1997 you requested a tariff classification ruling. The ruling request covers a wood jewelry box (Rite Aid #971415) which is made of wood and incorporates a music movement. The drawers and compartments are lined with felt covered textile fabric glued to a paperboard backing. A sample of the of the box was submitted. The applicable subheading for the wood jewelry box will be 4420.90.6500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States Annotated (HTSUSA), which provides for Jewelry boxes of wood, lined with textile fabrics. The rate of duty will be 0.9 cents per kilogram and 1.2 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
