Dear Mr. Cheng-Yu: In your letter dated January 7, 1997, you requested a tariff classification ruling, on behalf of General Globe Inc., Gardena, CA. The subject item is called a brass cup. It is an article used as material for a hydraulic press machine to form bullet shells. Its size is approximately 12 mm in length, with 10 mm in diameter, and approximately 1 mm in thickness overall. The chemical composition is 90% copper and 10% zinc. The applicable subheading for the brass cup will be 7419.99.5050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other articles of copper: other: other. The duty rate will be 2% ad valorem. Presently, there are no governmental restraints on this item and there are no additional agencies involved in its importation. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
