NY 869472 December 19, 1991 MAR-2-:S:N:N3H:350 869472 CATEGORY: Marking Mr. Tom Simones The Gates Rubber Company 999 South Broadway Denver, CO 80217 RE: The proper marking of cardboard sleeves which are printed in the U.S.A. and exported abroad for use on V-Belts, before being imported into the United States. Dear Mr. Simones: In your letter dated December 5, 1991, you requested a ruling with respect to the proper marking of cardboard sleeves. Specifically, you wish to have cardboard sleeves made up and printed in the United States before being exported abroad for affixing to the various V-belts that will be manufactured abroad. We note per a recent telephone conversation with your office that these countries may include Mexico, Canada, Korea, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Spain or the United Kingdom. In your correspondence, you provided two possible examples of marking that may be acceptable to the U.S. Customs Service. The one we find appropriate is the following: The Gates Rubber Company Printed in U.S.A. See Product for Country of Origin Noting that the country of origin is clearly marked on the belt itself, right next to the size of the belt, we deem the above marking to be in full compliance with Section 304 T.A. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction. Sincerely, Jean F. Maguire Area Director New York Seaport
