Box 711 Ligonier, PA 15658 RE: The tariff classification of duck or bunny baskets from Hong Kong Dear Ms. Bruzda: In your letter dated October 23, 1991, which was received in our office on November 12, 1991, you requested a tariff classification ruling. The ruling was requested on a set of "Duck/Bunny" baskets. One sample of each was submitted. The samples consist of small baskets woven of fern and bamboo. The baskets have duck or bunny heads and tails woven to shape from fern plaiting material. The duck head forms part of the basket itself and the bunny head is permanently interwoven. A portion of the sides of the baskets is made of interwoven bamboo. The greater portion of the baskets consists of the fern. The applicable subheading for the duck and bunny baskets will be 4602.10.1900, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for other baskets and bags, whether or not lined, of other vegetable materials. The rate of duty will be 4.5 percent ad valorem. The duty for wicker products provided for in subheading 4602.10.1900, HTS, is temporarily suspended under subheading 9902.46.02, HTS, effective for products entered after October 1, 1990 and on or before December 31, 1992. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction. Sincerely, Jean F.
