Dear Ms. Lyons: In your letter dated March 22, 1991, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Sample is being returned as requested. The submitted sample is a musical glass waterglobe, known as the "Heartland Bunny Musical Snowglobe" (item number 13-9270), which is filled with a glycol/water mixture and artificial snowflakes. It contains a plastic rabbit figurine and possesses an outer plastic/wooden base which encloses a wind-up musical device that plays the tune of "My Favorite Things". It is noted that this item will be principally purchased for its musical feature, thereby creating a music box. The applicable subheading for the above music box will be 9208.10.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for music boxes. The rate of duty will be 3.2 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
