Product description

The merchandise under consideration involves steel bezels that are designed and used for the assembly of electroluminescent displays. Their end-use application is to hold the EL displays together. The steel bezel is approximately 9.5 inches in length, 6.5 inches in width, and .50 inches in depth. The bezel surrounds a coated glass panel that is flat and is attached to the unit's circuit board and power supply. The EL glass panel that it holds, is a solid-state device with a thin film luminescent layer sandwiched between transparent dielectric layers and a matrix of row and column electrodes. The information provided appears to indicate that these bezels are principally used with computer flat-panel displays. The model numbers of the bezels are as follows: Planar P/N 501-0036-00 Bezel, stamped, 8358MS; Planar P/N 501-0037-02 Retainer, stamped, 8358; Planar P/N 501-0050-01 Bezel, stamped, 8358HR.

CBP rationale

The applicable subheading for the steel bezels will be 8473.30.4000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for parts and accessories of the machines of heading 8471, not incorporating a cathode ray tube.
