Hamada Vitalink Communications Corporation 6607 Kaiser Drive Fremont, CA 94555 RE: The tariff classification of network products from the United States Dear Ms Hamada: In your letter dated January 24, 1989 you requested a tariff classification ruling. Your letter states that Vitalink exports network products, identified as the TransLan III, models 320 and 350; TransRing, model 550; and TranSDLC, to Europe, Austrailia, New Zealand, and other countries. You request the HTS number you should use when the merchandise is returned to you for repair. Products of the United States when returned after having been exported, without having been advanced in value or improved in condition by any process of manufacture or other means while abroad should be entered under HTS number 9801.00.1035, free of duty. We suggest that you consult the Customs office at the port where you will enter the merchandise concerning the requirements for entry under HTS number 9801.00.1035. Sincerely, Jean F. Maguire Area Director New York Seaport
