NY 804668 December 6, 1994 CLA-2-55:S:N:N6:352 804668 CATEGORY: Classification Ms. Elena Bonny 3380 Tremont Road Columbus, Ohio 43221-2112 Dear Ms. Bonny: In your letter dated November 18, 1994, you requested a tariff classification ruling on the status of woven fabric, sheets, quilts, shams, and comforters from Mexico under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Pursuant to Part 181 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 181), a request for a ruling on the status of a product under NAFTA must provide sufficient detail to permit proper application of the relevant NAFTA provisions. In this case, we will require additional information in order to issue a ruling. Please provide information concerning where the cotton used in these products is grown. In addition, detail the source of the polyester resin, where the fiber is produced, where the yarns are spun and where the fabric is woven. Since the classification of the woven fabric is dependent upon its construction, please provide the data requested on the attached sheet titled "INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF WOVEN MAN-MADE FIBER FABRICS". For the sheets, shams, quilts and comforters, you must detail each step in the manufacturing process including the source country of each raw material and in which country each intermediate process is performed. As provided for in Section 181.94 of the Customs Regulations (19 CFR 181.94), you may submit this additional information within 30 days of the date of this notice. Please address any supplemental letter to this office, and refer to our file number shown above. If you have any questions in regard to this matter, please contact National Import Specialist Alan Tytelman at 212-466-5896. Sincerely, Jean F. Maguire Area Director New York Seaport
