Koplovsky Golightly Companies 22 Central Street Post Office Box 150 Hingham, MA 02043 RE: The tariff classification of sterile trauma burn dressings from South Africa Dear Mr. Koplovsky: Pursuant to your letter dated October 4, 1994, concerning NY 802447, issued to you on September 28, 1994, on behalf of Nortrade International, Inc., this ruling letter will serve to confirm that the sterile trauma burn dressings ruled on in NY 802447 include those larger-size dressings which you refer to as "Fire Blankets". By way of clarification, you indicate in your letter that, in addition to their larger size, the "Fire Blanket" sterile trauma burn dressings consist of a gel-soaked carrier that is composed of wool, as opposed to a gel-soaked carrier that is composed of foam for the smaller-size dressings. In addition, you have also indicated, in a telephone conversation with a member of my staff, that the "Fire Blanket" dressings may be imported put up in sealed plastic bags, as well as put up in sealed aluminum-foil packages. Articles classifiable under subheading 3005.90.1000, HTS, which are products of South Africa, are entitled to duty-free treatment under the Generalized Sytem of Preferences (GSP), if the GSP is renewed, upon compliance with all applicable regulations. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177). A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported.
